Reading Schemes
Throughout KS1, pupils are provided with a range of fiction and non-fiction books which are regularly changed to aid progression with their reading.
We use the popular well-established Oxford Reading Tree scheme. In addition to this, books from the Bug Club reading Scheme are incorporated to create further enjoyment and in KS1 these are linked to the phase of phonics they are working on.
As pupils move into KS2, they continue to follow a reading scheme in order that they learn more advanced deduction and inference skills. Following this, children then move onto free choice which also offers a range of fiction and non-fiction texts.
All children throughout school participate in guided reading at least once a week. In KS1 we use the Rigby Star reading scheme and in KS2 the Badger Learning scheme.
