Live and Learn like a Champion
This month's theme is Determination
The Olympics is obviously a major sporting celebration, but it can be much more than that. It is hoped that hosting the Olympics will help inspire our young people and motivate them to succeed in a whole range of areas. One of the projects building on that legacy of the Olympics is Live and Learn Like a Champion. The legacy project is set around the Olympic and Paralympic values of Friendship, Respect, Excellence, Equality, Courage, Determination and Inspiration. It involves the children working on various activities under these themes, helping them to meet their potential and collecting medals as they succeed. Some of the activities will be included as learning log ideas so you can work on them at home as well.
We will also celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games by taking part in the "Walk the History of the Games" school challenge, to encourage walking, scooting and cycling to school.
'The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not to triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.’
Pierre de Coubertin 1912
Founder of the modern Olympic Games
