Welcome to Year 1!

Autumn Overview

This half term, we are learning all about The Great Fire of London! We will be finding out what London was like in 1666, what happened during the fire, and how we know about it now.

In Maths we are practising counting and writing the numbers to 20, ready to start using them in addition and subtraction number sentences. Please help us to practise our counting at home!

  • PE is on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please make sure we have pumps in school for these days, and we will let you know when the children need to start bringing their PE kits.
  • Homework and spellings will be sent home on Fridays and need to be returned by the following Thursday. Children will be tested on their spellings on Fridays.
  • Homework projects are sent home each half term – we are excited to see what the children will find out and create about The Great Fire of London at home! THis could be anything, like a written diary, a 3D model or a collage.
  • Please try to support your child with their reading at home at least 4 times a week, and make a short note about their progress in their yellow reading record.

Please free to come and talk to us at the classroom door after school if you have any questions at all!
