Welcome To Year 3

Autumn Overview

This term our topic is Ancient Egypt. We will be learning about where Egypt is located and its human and physical features with a focus on the River Nile. We will also learn about The Ancient Egyptian people and their culture.

In English we will be learning about story settings, instructions and reports. Our writing tasks will include writing our own instructions about mummification and a report about Ancient Egypt.

We will become creative learners through developing our art and design skills in order to design, make and evaluate an Egyptian mummy and sarcophagus.

Our homework project will allow pupils to use their creative and independence skills to find out more about the Ancient Egyptians. They may choose to produce an information poster, book or model to reflect their home learning to share with adults and peers at school.

In Maths we will be developing our mathematical skills in counting, place value and the four calculations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

PE lessons will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays and children will need their indoor PE kit for these sessions. Homework and spellings will be given out on Fridays for return by the following Wednesday.

Please feel free to come and see us with any questions at the Year 3 door before or straight after school.
