Welcome to Year 2

Autumn term 2

This half term our topic is Celebrations! We will be learning about a rnage of celebrations including; weddings, birthdays, Diwali and Hanukkah. The main focus of our topic this half term is Religious Education. We will be learning about how different religions celebrate different festivals around the world. This will give us the opportunity to compare the similarities and differences of the festivals and how the differ between religions- for example a Muslim wedding compared to a Christian wedding.

We have set a homework project home for you and your child to enjoy together. They could make a poster, create a collage or build a 3D model about a celebration of their choice e.g. Christmas, Diwali, a wedding. It would be great to some creativity! The project can be brought in at any point during the half term. Enjoy!

PE lessons will be on a Monday and a Tuesday. Please ensure that your child has a white t-shirt and blue or black shorts or trousers. Earring should be removed on these days. Homework and spellings will be given out on Fridays. Please ensure homework is returned by the following Thursday at the latest.

Reading books should be brought to school everyday. Please try to read with your child as much as possible and complete the yellow reading record - this will really help your child with the fluency and understanding.

Please feel free to come and see us with any questions at the Year 2 door.

Miss C Spedding & Mrs F Lunat
